Okay so going back a few days: here's what's been keeping us busy!
On Friday (the day before the wedding), Mom, Aunt Betty, and Taara got up early and went to the flower market to buy the beautiful flowers for the wedding. Then Taara and Mom put their artistic talents together to create some gorgeous arrangements! They were lovely.
We had some extra flowers after decorating the reception hall so mom made one more arrangement on the day of the wedding.
Here is the final product:
In the afternoon, Aunt Betty spoiled us with a trip to get our nails done. Ruth, Jenn, and I walked down the block to find the little hole in the wall where Aunt Betty has been evangelizing to the manicurists. They only had good things to say about her and were so happy to be able to make our nails pretty and hardly stopped saying how beautiful we were. One even took a picture on her phone of each of us to show everyone she knew. They must've been appalled at the state of our toes since they've been hidden in socks all winter, but if they thought that, they didn't say so. It was so wonderful to be spoiled in this way and it was a great afternoon of chatting with Ruth and Jenn.
Darius found us at the end of our appointment and we walked to McDonald's to grab a quick dinner before going to the rehearsal. Of course we had to take pictures so my nieces and nephews could see Mommy at McDonald's in Brazil.
Oh and we live across from McDonald's so after we ate we looked across to see Taara and Lucas in the window. And those are Aunt Betty's lovely poinsettias. They are the pride and joy of the whole building.
So then Taara, Jenn and I stuffed in the car along with all the wedding decorations and spent more than an hour in traffic (when it should normally only take about 25 minutes). We were nice and cozy amongst the branches we were taking.
When we finally made it to the church, we spent the evening throwing together the decorations: vases with pink sand and white branches in them, twinkle lights, ribbon, and tool. Taara was in charge of the decorating and had some cool ideas. We were thankful for our talented family too who all jumped in to put everything together.
Lucas found a toy!
Jenn and David created a bush of branches at the front.
After the decorating, we had a little dinner and rehearsed the ceremony with Mical coordinating the whole thing and Darius translating.
I think we got home around midnight and then Grace and Andre proceeded to open some gifts from Mom/Dad, and Karen/Brian. They were sooooo happy! They were super excited for the taco seasoning that they can't get here as well as Andre's favorite verse. It was so special that Mom cried and Andre was close. ;-)
