On Sunday morning, we went to church where David and Taara attend. It is a newly formed group that meets in the meeting hall of a fancy hotel. Before the service we enjoyed a nice little breakfast. My family and David and Taara had sung "Oh Rejoice in the Lord" during the wedding and we were able to be a blessing by singing it again in the service. Then Aunt Betty and Darius both helped translate the sermon to the English speakers--something Aunt Betty has faithfully done through every Portuguese sermon that we've listened to with her.
In the afternoon, we all ate lunch together at the house and had some good times laughing around the living room and around the table.

After lunch, some of us kids walked down to the fancy mall which is about 5 blocks away. This mall has a starbucks so the coffee drinkers were happy to get their starbucks fix here!
This mall had amazing Christmas decorations!
And almost everyone shopping had their dog with them because this is the ritzy part of town. Ruth started taking pictures of a few of them to show her kids the "Brazilian dogs." When one lady saw her taking a picture of her dog, she picked her pooch up by the leash and literally thrust him into Ruth's arms to take a photo. You can see Ruth's shock in her face here, but I think she's also trying to figure out why the dog has such a silly haircut and smells of perfume.
And this was my favorite sign that I saw in the mall. Kissa's way of saying Merry Christmas. :-)
Yay! The last (?) Brazil update! I think you should be puckering up in the last photo, not thumbs up-ing. And Ruth's face is so great in the dog photo. Wow, crazy lady and dog!
ReplyDeleteno there will be a couple more. I did have a puckering up photo but what really happened was darius and I couldn't get the puckering timing in between the people walking through the mall. So in frustration at the end I just gave him a thumbs up and a smile.
