Rose in Bloom Dilemma

Well, I have a bit of a crocheting dilemma.
There are many things that were put on hold in the last year while craziness* happened including going through this huge bin of knitting goodies my mom got for a crazy deal at a garage sale a year ago. Now that I have a bit of time again, I was excited to find some great skeins of yarn and various needles including every size imaginable of those nice ones--you know the fancy bamboo ones? yeah...I'm looking forward to starting some new projects with those babies!
Okay but what's the dilemma...? Well, also in this box was a started project and I just don't know what to do with it!
It includes 28 finished squares, about 15 little rose pompoms, and 4 skeins of the white yarn (of a similar quality to red heart?)
I have the pattern for it--its pretty faded (I'm sure its a few decades old!) but legible.
The thing is, I don't think that I really want to finish it myself and yet I'm hesitant to throw it away since I'm sure it was hours of work and it's nearly finished. I really like the Rose in Bloom pattern as its a bit different from your typical granny square, but don't think I'm personally a big fan of the color combo.
So my dear readers, (especially you crocheters out there--ahem: Ali!), I need either ideas of what to do with it myself or one of you who wants to work with it. If so, you can most definitely have it!! The downside is that there is no more brown yarn with it (perhaps why the project was never finished?) but you could easily find other brown yarn or another color for other granny squares?

And ultimately I could just trash it, but I wanted to ask you guys first if anyone wants it. Get those creative juices flowing!!

*meeting my future husband, studying abroad, moving, courting my future husband, finishing University, planning a wedding, marrying my husband, moving again, etc. etc. etc...

  1. Yeah, you can't exactly just throw it away and I wouldn't want to finish it either, really. But someone should! If I crocheted faster (ha, and had time) I would actually probably consider it. Oh well.

    Ali?

  2. I would totally take it if you were just going to throw it away. I'd probably get some different color yarn and maybe alternate them every other square and make a couch blanket? I think it's a cute pattern! Too bad it's icky yarn, but hey, I'll take it if you're just gonna toss it! If you don't mind holding it for me for a while... I don't know if I'll see yo before May!

  3. I'll keep it for you, Ali! Maybe I'll even mail it to you. :-) Thanks for helping in the dilemma!
