Well, we're feeling pretty blessed around the Sobel household to have only been married for 3 weeks and to have already gone on two honeymoons! For anyone planning their wedding right now, I would highly advise staying local for the first few days and not worrying about major travel plans or sight seeing. We spent our first honeymoon at the Four Seasons in Seattle and enjoyed the gift from my father-in-law to be pampered with room service and massages for 3 days following our wedding.
Then this past weekend, we were spoiled enough to fly to the land of Texas to enjoy a paid vacation to Dallas! This was all part of the Yellow Ribbon Program that we got to take part in since Chris deployed last year. Basically it is an opportunity for deployed soldiers to travel with their families before and after a deployment to enjoy a relaxing time with their family while preparing to leave or reintegrating into family life. For us it meant a weekend together in a great hotel with lots of yummy food and blessings provided for us!
I've flown to the Dallas airpot dozens of times, but this was my first time actually stepping into the city and experiencing Texas culture first hand. I think we both felt as though visiting Dallas was everything we imagined it would be.
One of the nights we were given the opportunity to attend the Professional Bull Riding Championship at the Cowboys Stadium in Dallas. It was the first even there since the Superbowl last week and a pretty impressive venue! Toby Keith opened the rodeo and while neither of us are big fans of his, it was enjoyable. The best part was probably his tribute to the American Soldiers with a music video playing that included 2 photos from Chris' unit. We thought that was a pretty good showing! We also enjoyed the fireworks going off inside the Stadium during the concert--again, very impressive!
All in all I'm again reporting that we are feeling very blessed to be together and enjoying this season of life! God has been very good to us and we are thankful!
