Have you ever heard of Scherensnitte? Well, apparently it is part of my German heritage and an art form of cutting paper with scissors. If you google scherensnitte and look at some of the images that pop up, you will be amazed at the tiny intricacies of the art, I'm sure! Well, I had never heard of this until I moved to Vancouver where our Pastor's wife (hi, Judy!) is incredibly talented at this craft. She very kindly taught it to the ladies of our church recently but it was over the weekend that I was with Chris in N.C. so my friend Jacque spun me up when I came back. This is my first whirl at it. I decided to go simple and fun and came up with this little creation for Jaclyn's bridal shower. I cut it out of a map of the Ontario, CA area where they first met and found the pattern here. I sanded and slapped some white paint on an ugly brown frame and voila! A little wedding art. Could make for some great and inexpensive Christmas gifts, no?
