Chris and I have been getting into gardening together this spring/summer. We didn't do much more than a couple flower pots last year but this year we are going a little farther with some veggies growing. We have no yard at our little townhouse, but its been working out to continue the container gardening on the front porch. Meanwhile inside, we tried a mushroom growing experiment and have been pleasantly surprised at how easy and fun it was. I had never heard of this company before but we found the grow your own box kit at Home Depot.
It took about 10 days with a little spritzing of water every day to go from this:
to this:
It was actually scary how fast they were growing. We kept making jokes about coming home to the mushrooms taking over the kitchen.
And then we got to enjoy this:
Chris battered some up and fried them. They were delicious...
...and we enjoyed this yummy udon noodle soup that I made too! We are supposed to get at least one more batch out of this kit so here we go again! Any good mushroom ideas out there for our next batch?
