Sacred Road

This is my friend Heather German:
Heather has been a dear friend to me for as long as I can remember. I know we played together before kindergarten and we attended school together from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Our friendship climaxed at the end of our high school years with us spending quality time together painting play backdrops, crying over trigonometry, and running honor society. You can tell we are close just by the fact that we practically wore the same outfit in the photo above (which I assure you was not planned). But more than anything, I'm thankful for Heather's long time friendship because she loves the Lord and desires to be a faithful servant for His kingdom.

While in college, Heather became involved with Sacred Road Ministries on the Yakama Indian Reservation in Washington. Those working there, have felt the call to serve "our first neighbors" well. They are working on a church plant in the small town of White Swan and participate in many ministry opportunities in the community. Heather spent most of her summers during college as an intern and was called back to full time mission work on the reservation a year after she graduated.

The Need:

-SRM (Sacred Road Ministries) works in one of the poorest communities in the nation.
-There are few healthy, evangelical churches on the reservation.
-Over the last 100 years, marriages and families have suffered greatly under poverty, abuse, and addiction.
-Substance abuse has affected 100% of the people on the reservation.
-Unemployment in White Swan is about 75%.
-There are almost 3 million Native Americans in the U.S., only 2% claim to be Christians.
-Hopelessness and despair are very prevalent in this "forgotten" community.

Heather is involved in many aspects of SRM and as part of the full-time staff, is living in White Swan year round ministering to the community. Her primary mission is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with the people on the reservation. She is involved in food prep, mentoring young teens, assisting short term mission teams, and many other things. Almost two years ago, Heather raised support for a two year commitment to serve with Sacred Road and now she believes God is calling her to stay on full time. She has begun the process of raising support once again and needs faithful brothers and sisters to come alongside her and support her with prayer and financial gifts.
If this is an opportunity that you feel called to help in by serving our neighbors in Yakama, you can contact Heather or any of the other SRM staff (I'd be happy to put you in touch with them!). Also, let me know if you would like to be added to Heather's mailing list.

If you would like to help financially, you can send gifts to:
